To be seen and heard

A public labor
We live in an information society which places high demands on public administration. There is a need to be open and transparent about the activities of the Regional Development Council. The work of the Regional Development Council responds to the same principal of public access to official documents as all other Swedish authorities and public organizations. The principal of public access means that:

  • All documents are public, i.e. they should be accessible for those who want to read them.
  • All public employees have freedom of communication, which means that there is a constitutional right to be able to give information to media anonymously.
  • The public and mass media have the right to attend the meetings of the regional executive board.

Communication as a strategic tool
The Regional Development Council believes that communication and information are strategic tools necessary to steer, lead, support and develop our activities. Furthermore, it is a prerequisite in order for us to strengthen and contribute to the development of local and regional democracy, by giving citizens the opportunity to observe, participate and influence.

In order to strengthen the confidence for the Regional Development Council as the principal regional arena for cooperation, development and growth, there is a need for work on communication and information. All public relations work helps to clarify the image and enhance confidence in the Regional Development Council as the principal arena for regional cooperation, development and growth. The Regional Development Council is also
commissioned to lead the work on identity and branding of Jönköping County. This is about making the strengths of the region visible in an attractive and credible manner through strategic communication.
